Mat Man with Handwriting Without Tears ✏️🎶 We start with the language of lines—big lines, little lines, big curves, little curves—then build Mat Man. I model once with the song, we sit in a circle and everyone adds a piece, then I rebuild while kids draw on whiteboards, and finally we transfer to paper like a directed drawing to the song. All year we remix the song with our Star of the Week’s name and draw that friend for the Star book. | Preschool Vibes

Mat Man time with Handwriting Without Tears ✏️ We build Mat Man using the same big/little lines and big/little curves we use for capital letters and numbers—the blue mat is his body. This routine makes drawing people click: kids remember every part and where it goes, then carry it over to paper. Simple, memorable, and so effective.#onthisday | Preschool Vibes

Mat Man from Handwriting Without Tears is by far the best way I’ve found to teach preschoolers how to draw all the body parts of a person! We use Mat Man all year during our Star of the Week book, inserting each child’s name into the Mat Man song to make it personal and fun. | Preschool Vibes

In our classroom, we use Mat Man from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to learn how to draw a person using the same lines and curves found in capital letters. My students adore the catchy song that accompanies this lesson, and we find ourselves singing it throughout the year. It's especially helpful in teaching them to understand and include all parts of the body in their drawings. #handwritingwithouttears | Preschool Vibes

How we learn to draw people (Mat Man HWT) ✏️🎶 We start with Handwriting Without Tears language—big line, little line, big curve, little curve—the same pieces we use for letters and numbers. I model Mat Man on the blue mat with the song, then we build together (each child adds a piece). Next, kids draw on whiteboards to the song (pause between parts) and finally transfer to paper step-by-step. All year, we practice during Star of the Week—we swap in the child’s name in the Mat Man song and draw
